Jan Wurzbacher is a mechanical engineer by training, holding a master’s degree with distinction and a PhD from the ETH Zurich. Jan is winner of the ETH Medal, an award for outstanding master’s and doctoral theses, and received several scholarships funded by the German National Academic Foundation, The Boston Consulting Group and the Hamburg Foundation for International Studies. During his PhD, Jan researched direct air capture technologies and founded Climeworks on this basis together with Christoph Gebald in 2009. With more than ten years of experience in CO 2 capture from the air he is today the co-CEO of Climeworks.
